being that this place is the hottest ish on yelp i hadddd to try it.
on a friday around noon there was no wait for 4 people. yay!
i had the loco moco which comes with 2 eggs, gravy, 2 home made hamburger patties, rice, and mac salad. let's start with the good. eggs were cooked just right and the gravy was reallllly good. the hamburger patties were just okay. it seemed like they had been pre-cooked and re-heated. the meat was very tough. it was like a day old bbq hamburger patty. i'm used to the really tender thin hamburger patties so this may just be preference. the mac salad was not good to me at all. there was a lot of black pepper and something else i couldn't quite figure out. i shared this with a friend but it really wasn't enough food to share. he didn't like the mac salad either but enjoyed everything else.
sooo the real reason why i came here was to try the red velvet pancakes everyone is talking about. and yes. it lives up to the hype! the pancakes are very light, fluffy, and not overly sweet. the whipped cream on top seems home made and can be compared to a marshmallow flavor. yum! the cream cheese syrup is sweet and has the perfect syrupy consistency.
my other friends shared eggs benedict and half was done well and the other half was overcooked. they also got regular pancakes and really like them.
overall service was friendly but on the slow side. it took a while to get our food. the tables are set up in a way where it's very congested and it's not a great place for groups if you have more than 6 people.
i absolutely fell in love with the red velvet pancakes but i'm not sure if i would come back for their lunch.
