| - While vacationing in Phoenix, I found out that there was a local 50s-style diner. My husband and I are both into oldies music, so naturally we had to check it out! Initially the place caused confusion, as there were several entrances in a row, but we figured out we had to enter through an antique store. We loved all of the old stuff on display in the diner. The waitress was friendly and dressed for the era, albeit not in a poodle skirt. We asked for time to peruse the menu, as there were a mind-boggling amount of shake flavors to choose from. I opted to mix two flavors for my shake: passionfruit and black cherry, which turned out to be a scrumptious blend. My husband got coffee, but it tasted so weak that he swapped it out for blackberry. We were told it was weak because it had just been made with coffee ice cream rather than using their coffee syrup. Why? We don't know. The music wasn't 100% consistent with the theme. Part of the time it was oldies, and the other part was 80s. For our lunch, we both ordered the same thing-pastrami on rye with potato salad. The reviewers are spot-on about the potato salad, it's quite good. The sandwich was pretty good as well. After eating, we browsed the antique shop on the other side. I found it strange that the restaurant is sandwiched between two of them. Another odd thing is they were selling some clothes and old family photos along with the antiques. I didn't really get why people would want to buy photos of somebody else's family, but oh well. We definitely enjoyed our experience, so we would eat here again if we came back to Phoenix.
