  • I realize I don't know much about the financial world, but from the little I know about the greed, thievery, and corruption, I can formulate a little opinion on B of A. But this is not going to be yet another political review. This is actually a yelp review. Yes documentaries such as "Capitalism a Love story" make a big deal about Bank Of America being one of the biggest banks in the forclosure market at present. And me and my ex roomate having tried to buy a forclosed house, had to deal with B of A and their inefficient, bureaucratic policies that resulted in us losing the house. I have been on hold for the last 35minutes with BofA's "satisfaction hotline" attempting to unlock my credit cards. Why am I doing this 3hrs. before my flight? Because upon walking into a bank branch with my ID's ready, I was told that they dont unblock cards for international travel at banks??? And that I had to do it "online." So we went home, and emailed customer service. No dice. Last resort. Calling the 24hr. hotline. I have been a B of A customer since 2003 since I opened up a free student account because they had a booth at UCSD. So i called the number listed on the website, and spoke to a rep for 10 min. before she transfered me over to another department who she assured me would be able to unblock ALL my accounts. Rep 2: He asked me a serites of questions that took another 10min. and didn't even look at my account closely enough to make sure I had 2 debit cards. He couldn't remember where I was going for the life of him, but made it a point to note that ALL purchases made internationally will be 3% extra charge?? Then he said he couldn't unblock my credit card and had to transfer me yet again to the "credit dept" to unblock my other account. Rep 3: Same deal. Much longer hold. Typical B of A interaction. transfer after transfer. Seriously, it has to be more efficient than this. B of A's commercials always mention high customer satisfaction ratings and the lack of hidden charges, but there are always hidden charges. for example, the "minimum interest fee" is only waived if you pay your credit bill in full, every single time.to the penny. They hide charges even if you go shopping online and order something from lets say, England because it's considered "international." I like the convenience of the many ATM's and locations and the international sister branches, but as with every single multi-billion financial institution, it just all seems so sinister and I don't trust them. i guess I'd give them a 2.5, but after they re-possessed the already possessed house we tried to buy, I'm way over it.
