| - Run, don't walk away from Abby dental! Abby dental recommended a root canal for a perfectly fine tooth....
One tooth ache and off I went to Abby where I was quoted $43 for an exam and evaluation with next day availability. The evaluation included a girl that took my X-rays and then the dentist walked in, didn't look at my mouth, he just glanced at the X-rays for like two seconds and said "you need 2 root canals", go see finance. I then asked him to explain my X-rays , he was annoyed / short as he quickly ran over my X-rays, where I asked him to make sure that I needed two root canals, as this was surprising to me. He confirmed this and I waited for my appointment with finance, which quoted me 1395 per tooth (times 2 for the two teeth). I was told abby is the cheapest in town and that there was no need for another quote and that I should just make my appointment. I always get a second opinion before any major work, so I scheduled an appointment not with abbey, but with the top root canal specialist in town, who quoted me 920 (no crown), and who retook my X-rays only to discover that I only needed 1 root canal and Abby dental had committed malpractice by recommending a second root cannel for a perfectly fine tooth. If I had not gotten a second opinion, I would have never known about / been able to proof malpractice if I had just gotten the root canals done by abbey, as the root is removed during a root canal and with it would go the proof that the root was healthy. I went back into abby dental where I told them that they had committed malpractice and that they needed to go over my X-rays with me. At first the dentist disagreed with me, until we looked at unique filling next to the one they recommended for a root canal, it was obvious that the X-rays were flipped . At this point the dentist apologizes, offered me a free whitening and refunded me the $43 in exam fees telling me this had never happened before. However, as I left the building I walked by a guy yelling at them that they were about to pull the wrong tooth and another girl saying that her root canal was still hurting weeks later, all I could think about was how glad I was that I got a second opinion and that I had gotten the work done by an expert.
