| - I love hiking this mountain! There are many different ways you can get up here. I suggest bringing some.kind of glove wear incase your first time up you go the rough way by having to climb up the rougher way. I learned the hardway, BUT, it was still a good climb! There are actual trail paths so you don't have to worry about steep climbing the thing. That's what makes this hike awesome because you can pick your degree of difficulty.
My favorite thing about this hike is I don't have to drive too long (minutes wise) for a hike. I can get my workout in off this mountain alone. Climb up to the top squeeze those glutes while you do...if that isn't enough, take a walk/run around the mountain as they have turned the base of the mountain into an equestrian trail. If you've been coming here for years as we have...it was rugged terrain. Now, you don't have to worry about twisting your ankle! Watch out for horse shit, though! Literally...horse shit.
But you don't have to worry about horse shit up the trail itself. Lol. There's a bench at the low peak where you can digest the view, but don't stop there because you better climb to the top!
It doesn't take.too long to get up there unless you arent.much of a hiker, height freaks you out, you have anxiety, or its been awhile since you haven't worked out. I consider it to be fairly easy and it being a great quick hike if youre pressed for time. It's one of my fave places to go to decompress because it isn't a drives away and I know I won't be gone for too long.
Definitely kid friendly because my kids have been up there many times! But leave the stroller because it's not that kind of trail.
Pick up your trash, parking is more on the offroadish but never an issue, and bring plenty of water because if you go while it's hot...you're gonna feel it. There isn't one drop of shade.
Enjoy!
