| - Had a staycation at the Phoenician for our 5 year anniversary. We stayed in a casita with a pool view. The room was nice and I had a good nights sleep on the bed. For some reason they had crappy pillows, like every other hotel on this planet. They have live bands in the lounge and in the steak restaurant on the 5th floor. The employees working the front desk were very kind and helpful when needed. For out of towners, it is close to Old Town Scottsdale and Camelback Mountain. It is also located in the nicest area of the Valley.
The negative part has to do with the pool. We were in the pool and did not see a server for 30 plus minutes. Asked to order food from the bar, and he stated only if we sit at the bar. We were in the pool 2 feet from the bar, I guess walking this distance to give us food was to much. We then finally spoke with a server, who said no server has our area, mind blown. She said she can only serve to the other side of the pool. We ended up getting food, after jumping through several difficult hoops. The most romantic part of the pool was the caution tape around several pools, which remained our entire stay. Was great for pictures. The pool area was also a mess, tables full with dirty plates and bottles.
It was a little pricey for one night, and would not match the cheaper rates on line ($320).
It is a very nice resort, but we have had better experience at other resorts in the Valley.
If it was not for our negative pool experience, price being on the high side I would give them 4 to 5 stars.
If you are looking for a good steak place, and want to leave the resort try Steak 44 down the street at 44th st and Camelback Rd. I heard the resorts Steak restaurant is good also.
