I came here on the recommendation of my friend who was excited to find a Japanese Cheesecake with a denser, more cheesy taste! I was equally excited, though I came back a little disappointed. I bought the Double Fromage cake - it is basically a copy of Le Tao's Double Fromage Cheesecake from Hokkaido in Japan. If you know Hokkaido, you'll know that they are very famous for their milk. This cake did not quite live up to that expectation. The cake is a two layer cake - the bottom layer tastes a bit like the fluffy sponge cake they sell and the top layer is an icy no-bake marscapone layer. It is alright. I think it tasted a bit better after defrosting - the cheesy taste was magnified that way. However, I am not sure if I would buy it again at the price they were charging. Btw, why do they charge HST on full cakes - I thought you're not supposed to? The cake came in a thin wooden box- if this is a substantial add on to the cost of the cake, I would recommend the owners rethink this strategy. Firstly, they are not the next Le Tao - no need for these gimmicks, and secondly, it does not serve any special purpose that a paper box could have accomplished. I would really suggest reducing the cost of the cake to make it more affordable (the price was over $20 and it was only 4 inches big!)
The store has a few tables but I found it very strange as after I bought the cake, there was no plate given to me and no knife as well. They only had plastic forks. It was a bit hard to eat the cake - perhaps they should try to offer plating the cake for you next time.
