Coming in to this bakery with a friend, the first thing I saw was not the huge variety of pastries, chocolates and cakes. Nor the immaculate squeaky clean glossy white interior (which I prefer over Bobbette and Belle's "wedding magazine" decor).
No, the first thing that I saw upon entering Nadege was the Blue Screen of Death. Ever had something like that happen to you?
Why? My mind literally crashed upon the overwhelming sight of so many artful straight-out-of-a-cookbook-photo sweet goodies in one place. Someone with a very vulnerable craving for baked treats could rob this place just to have all these goodies.
Right across the street in an unmissable corner building from Trinity-Bellwoods Park, everything here is pricey, yes. That goes even for their macarons, which is what Nadege is famous for, and for which is the only reason we are making a pilgrimage here. There are a huge variety of flavours, even on a weekend. And each one we picked out were delicious, crisp and not overwhelming sweet.
Nothing like a pumpkin macaron (a seasonal flavour; taste better than a pumpkin pie!) to reboot my brain. The treats are worth every penny, I am told. Mmm hmm.
