| - I almost missed a flight because of this place. It would've been worth it. Few things have excited me as much as coffee. And then, when a real coffee enthusiast says, "Oooo, Cleveland needs more good coffee." That's when I Really get excited. Then, out comes Duck Rabbit. And sure enough. It looks promising. Month after agonizing month goes past as they slowly progress into a real business. They begin with roasting. Of course. That would have to be the first step. Then they search out the market for selling such an animal. And at long last, they open shop. Hurray! The waiting is over!
To be true, I was just a liiiiittle bit skeptical. I had picked up a bag of Duck Rabbit coffee at The Grocery. It wasn't bad, but it was far from amazing. And it had no smell. Whaaa...? But I was too hopeful to stop at that. I followed their progress online like a sloth on a tree. Slowly, and without much enthusiasm, because surely such a dream would never become a reality. But I Was still too hopeful to give up. And then today, I finally made it. I stepped inside with a feeling of triumph and I could tell... It was worth the wait. (Seriously Kent K. Enough with the nonsensical talk of love and affection for the Duck of the Rabbit. Let's get on with this review.)
Inside is a typically designed third-wave coffee house. Not a bad thing. Brick walls, wood floors and exposed white ceiling beams. Their roasting process is in full view and their brewing process is in full swing with a La Marzocco cranking out perfectly pulled espressi and a barista pouring perfectly poured pour-overs. I actually would have no idea about the latter but the espresso, macchiato and cortado I witnessed were impressive. They had two options; both were single origin. I will speak for the Rwanda. It was good. Possibly the favoritest espresso I've slorked in all of Cleveland. It was full of good flavor and lingering with good aftertaste. Cleveland Did need more good coffee, and it received it indeed.
Duck Rabbit, oh thou mythical creature of good meaning and exceptional coffee. I will forever hunt thee down. You should be happy about that.
