| - Thank you to oncologist Dr. Bennett and Faren for the kind and caring treatment they gave my boy, an older bullmastiff, and me when I took him in a week ago for a consult. Sadly there was no magic cure for him.
In the days since I had originally booked his appointment, his breathing amongst other worrying symptoms had drastically deteriorated due to a large malignant tumor that had aggressively regrown after our local vet removed it three months prior. They patiently gave me the time I needed to answer some background questions and when his x-rays results came back, Dr. Bennett took me through all my options and the scenarios associated with each one, including the most difficult one of all.
I can't describe how gut-wrenching it was to say goodbye to him that day but I can say how grateful I am for the support I received and the love and respect he was treated with.
If it's helpful for anyone to know, I was allowed to be with him while he was euthanized. We were in a small separate room (not the consult room and not out back), much like a living room with furniture, decor and dimmable lights. He got treats and lay on a soft furry mattress (two of his most favorite things in the world), and I got to chose how much time I spent with him before and after. They also helped arrange his cremation and memorial items before they brought him into the room, which I paid for immediately so I wouldn't have to deal with it afterward.
Based on this entire experience, I would readily trust LVVSC again. Naturally, I don't want to ever have to use their services but it's reassuring to know they're there if I need them.
