  • I moved to Las Vegas from Arizona in October 2017. At that time I reached out to Cox to have my service transferred to the new address which that agreed to do. I was on automatic payment on my account already. Apparently instead of transferring the account they cancelled the old one and created a new one. (Not a big deal most of the time if that is communicated to me, which is wasn't). I have had the service now for about 6 months and haven't had any communication from Cox at all and my bills have been getting deducted as normal. I decided to check my credit report today and learned that I have a collection for $61 from Cox which I had no idea I even owed money. I called them up to see what was going on and they determined it was because some equipment wasn't returned. My problem is that NO ONE notified me that any equipment needed to be returned or that I owed money for not returning it. I quickly paid them the money today but asked that it not be impacting my credit score as it shouldn't have even been in collections since it was just a transfer of service and there was no contact with me. They advised me that they called me in January (once) and March (once) and that they left me messages which I never received those calls. They also said they sent one letter via postal service and I never received that. The bottom line is that this collection should have never been placed on my credit report and that they should have either really reached out to me or just added it to my bill since I have been on auto payments for several years. Cox told me that they aren't able to have it removed from the credit report and that I had to talk to their third party company (Credit Control Corp) would have to do it. I then called them up and advised them of the problem and they advised me that COX had to inform them that it was a mistake to have it removed. So the two companies keep going back and forth stating it is the other company that has to do it but neither one has done it. BOTTOM LINE: They don't care about the consumer (other than the money lining their pockets) and lack in customer service. A simple remove that from my credit report is all they had to do to resolve this and now they have lost me as a customer and getting a bad review and other complaints being filed.
