| - First let me say that if you have to pay a bit more money for another company to move your stuff then do it! I moved to Northern California last year and used U-haul and it turned out to be way more expensive and here's why.
I paid about $1,550 for them to drop off/pick up the large U-boxes and move them to California, which would have been great if they actually arrived on time like they promised.
I arrived in California and they said that it would be there by the time I moved into my place. On their website they promise that your stuff will be there 7-10 days.
Well guess what? It didn't get there by the time I moved in and because of this I had to purchase household items that I needed, such as an inflatable bed, a blanket, a chair and other things to get me by until my stuff arrived.
The extra things that I purchased came to about $250-300, which I was not planning on spending. Not only did they not arrive on time but the people working here have very poor communication with one another and customers as well.
Also while leaving town I left 2 hours late, because the driver forgot to tell me to sign some kind of document at the last minute and without it they couldn't proceed.
And another reason why you shouldn't choose U-Haul is, because your stuff will get damaged. The front of media console got scraped off, which I'll have to repair or toss.
Overall to give you an idea of how much you'll actually pay if you use U-Haul
U-Haul driving your stuff $ 1,550
U-Haul damaging your stuff $500 or more
U- Haul not arriving on time $250 or more
TOTAL $2,300... Lesson learned PRICELESS!
All I can say to end this review is that I'm glad my stuff actually arrived, but would not use U-Haul ever again for moving state to state.
