| - After leaving Chapel Hill, it's been really tough for me to find any froyo that compares to my beloved Yogurt Pump. For Charlotte, it seems like Menchie's is as close as it's going to get.
The self-serve concept isn't my favorite... in general, I get kind of skeeved out by the thought of a million people walking through and having their grubby fingers within centimeters of where my food is dispensed. However, Menchie's keeps the yogurt area and toppings bars just about as clean as possible... I've never had a gross-out moment here. It also probably helps that I normally go at lunchtime when the shop never seems to be that crowded.
The texture of the yogurt here is great --creamy as opposed to icy. Overall, I'm a fan of most of the dessert-type flavors at Menchie's, but the fruit flavors taste strangely overpowering and artificial. However, I never have a tough time finding something tasty though --cake batter, peanut butter, and chocolate covered banana are all great!
In general, the employees are really friendly, cheerful, and don't seem like they hate their jobs (unlike my previous review of YoWorld in Huntersville). However, it must be the norm that you should never get to a Meck Co froyo place within 30 minutes of closing time if you actually want the yogurt and toppings to still be out.
