Recently relocated to an apartment complex without a garage. With winter coming I knew it would be worth my time and money to invest in a remote start.
Anyway, while I will admit the price of the install was fairly expensive (professional installation is key to a quality remote car starter experience. Do not trust your vehicle to the lowest bidder!)...what made this an attractive deal was that once you buy the remote start hardware you have it for life and will only charge labor to install on a future car. Although I am not much of a car person, it was nice when dropping off the keys Rick walked me through what he was going to do and how the install would work. He was also very flexible on dropping my car off (I was able to drop off Friday night for a Saturday morning appointment).
DISCLAIMER: I have a 2008 Jetta - part of the install involves locking your key in a box and hiding that box in the dash...so I was instructed to get a valet/non switchblade key so that I could keep a set of keys. For me the cost to get the spare key was about $65 without tax and then on top of this it would cost $50 to program the chip in the key. I decided to opt out of these extra expenses, which were quoted at a local VW dealer. Doing this I now only have one key as the other was used as part of the install. Other makes/models will likely be different than what I experienced.
