  • I love wine and after moving to Scottsdale recently I have been in search of fun local wine bars to try. After reading several reviews on here my husband and I headed over for a little Friday afternoon R&R. It was okay, but I was quite disappointed in the service and smell. The outside patio was cute and the decor inside looked nice. However, there was an overwhelming smell of cleaning chemicals along with a wetness or rotting smell when we walked in, not the aromas I want competing with my wine. As we sat down at the bar anyway, there appeared to be some cleaning or maintenance person behind the bar that soon left. It took a few minutes for the bartender/server to come out and acknowledge us. He was nice enough, but my overall pet peeve was that he never checked-in with us after we ordered 2 glasses of wine and there were only 2 or 3 other people at the bar and a few at the tables. He did offer us a taste of the wine we were considering prior to ordering which was very nice, but as soon as we ordered we never heard his voice again. About two-thirds of the way through our glasses of wine he just abruptly took our menus away and didn't say anything. I thought that was odd and rude. After we finished our initial glasses my husband put his credit card out and all the bartender said was, "are you ready to close out?" We said yes and went on to have food and more wine at another venue. I would give this place another try, as I enjoy a casual and cute wine bar. I'm hoping our experience with the staff was a fluke. I don't want to be waited on every moment, but this was the opposite. I just felt that this bartender lacked the personality or customer service ability I would want in a wine bar associate. I would also hope that barring any emergencies, that smelly cleaning and maintenance isn't done at times when it severely disrupts a patron's experience. I would also suggest that back office doors are kept closed so patrons who are waiting to use the bathroom aren't looking into the messy business end.
