I'm usually easy going and do not usually post bad reviews, but my experience at this post office today was completely uncalled for. I went today to drop off a box of mailings for my office using Every Door Direct Mail. I ordered and paid for it online. In addition to dropping off these fliers, I brought a letter that needed to be sent certified mail.
When I arrived, the line was out the door because only one person was working. She was very friendly, but it was ridiculous to think the post office would only staff one person during lunch. The other person was at lunch. After waiting at least 40 minutes, it was my turn. I told her I had two needs. She wasn't familiar with EDDM, so I contributed to the delay for other customers. I figured it would just be something I could drop off. After that was cleared up, she asked me if I could wait for the other attendant since she was back. I was trying to be accommodating and said that was fine. I waited in line again. When it was my turn, the new attendant asked if I had cash. I said I was paying with credit card. She told me she only accepted cash. When I asked what I should do she simply said "I don't know" and that I would have to wait for the other lady to return. When I asked how long it would be she again said she didn't know but "shortly."
I couldn't believe this. I felt so disrespected for my time. I couldn't mail a letter after I had been there for an hour. I stopped at UPS afterward and was taken care of in less than 5 minutes for the same service. I'm glad I "voted" with my dollars here. What an absolutely horrible waste of time and it's sad this review will not be used improve customer service because they do not need to improve it to stay opened. This is a primary example of why the government should not run anything.
