I have attached photos that include the case numbers, nature of crime, date, time, etc of what I detailed above. There is actually more crime taking place than what I have mentioned above. I cannot release copies of the police reports or calls for service due to liability. However, for $5 you can obtain your own copies of each incident that has taken place here and verify them for yourself.
The developer of this apartment complex promised that both dumpsters on the north side of the complex would remain locked at all times with the exception of dumpster service, thereby restricting access from the north side of the property at ALL TIMES. This is taken verbatim from their proposal (which is publicly available) to City Council when they received permission to build the apartment complex:
"The dumpster stations shown along the north wall shall be gated with a 7' high solid metal swinging or rolling gate that is locked at all times except when unlocked for dumpster service by the garbage truck. The dumpsters shall be promptly locked from the alley side by the garbage truck service provider and not left open for a period longer than required to service the dumpsters."
Not only did the apartment complex fail to install locks on the swinging gates, but they are left open quite often. In addition, the interior gate accessed by the residents is often left open, too, which does have a lock (photos attached supporting all of this). I have personally witnessed people access the apartment complex from the alley through the dumpsters. I do not know if those people were residents. I have also witnessed people people picking through those dumpsters and proceeding down the alley. Additionally, I have also personally witnessed a Scottsdale SUV/police officer parked at said dumpster from the alley and investigating that area.
I don't have any proof or data, but I would suspect most of the crime that takes place at Las Aguas Apartments, enters and exits through the alley. This is quite common in this area and Las Aguas Apartments is doing absolutely nothing to fix this.
I have called/spoken with management on multiple occasions voicing my concerns about the open access from the alleys, but obviously they do not care about the safety of its residents. Otherwise, they would have made the cheap and easy fix long ago and what they originally promised to do.
If you have been a victim of any crime that has taken place at Las Aguas Apartments or you have a valid concern for your safety and personal property, you should seek legal counsel for negligent security.
Please maintain your awareness at ALL times for your personal safety while staying at Las Aguas Apartments.
