Located in the Crystals at City Center, you can't miss this place as part of it sits in something that's supposed to be a sculpture called "the tree". The sculpture itself is lost on most. At any rate, my girl and I were in to celebrate a special occasion and Mastro's just happened to fit the bill for what we were looking for.
We started with Oysters on the half shell along with a Lobster Bisque. The oysters were a good size, not too briny and of the east coast variety. The Lobster Bisque was excellent. Chunks of lobster and the soup itself was neither watery nor too thick but with proper consistency and the temperature just perfect. Main courses consisted of Chilean Sea Bass for her and the Scottish Salmon Filet. I put my trust in the chef and opted to be surprised in the preparation of my salmon, and I was not disappointed as everything was prepared exactly as requested. Sides to accompany the entrees were the Lobster Mashed Potatoes and some sauteed Asparagus. Drinks to accompany the meal was a nice Sauvignon Blanc (the name escapes me) which went with everything as per recommended by our server.
Service-wise: very attentive. Our server ran through all of the specials for the night and answered any questions we may have had including selecting the wine to go with our entire meal start to finish on top of being entertaining. If a course was complete, someone was present to take the item away. Our glasses were never empty and staff (including the manager) made it a point to be sure that our needs were met and that everything was fine. Bonus points for giving us a table right along the edge inside of the "tree" sculpture.
Word of warning: portions are quite generous so either be prepared to share or come hungry.
In short: Top-notch service, good food, quality that pairs equally with the price. You will not be disappointed.
