  • No airborne breaded goods here! (although I would be 100% behind the idea) I met my best friend for Sunday brunch around 1:00 and was informed that there was a 10-15 minute wait. The guy who was manning the host desk had an awesome mustache and was super friendly. The wait time ended up being less than that and we were led inside. Our sweet waitress Monique greeted us, gave us menus and took our drink orders. I had browsed the menu online beforehand but seeing all of the options in-person slightly overwhelmed me (everything sounded and looked delicious!) but I stuck with what I originally planned on ordering: the Piedmont omelet with oven roasted potatoes. I don't care how "dreamy" their grits are, this girl does not eat them. The interior reminded me of a bright, cheery country kitchen. I was also surprised to learn that they have somewhat of a coffee bar serving up chai tea (iced or hot), mochas, cappuccinos, lattes, etc. I just stuck with plain ol' coffee. After our orders were taken, our food arrived pretty soon afterward. I was pleased by the size of the biscuit. Even though they go by 'Flying Biscuit' I was half expecting them to serve biscuits that were pretty small. Not the case here. Thick, fluffy, carby goodness. On the table, you have the choice to dress your biscuit with standard butter or apple butter (or both, you rebel). I went the apple butter route and it tasted just like Fall to me. My omelet was delicious. Packed with chicken sausage and turkey bacon, cheese, and onions. So so so so good and would order it again. Mentally, I've already added this place to my rotation of breakfast/brunch spots and cannot wait to go as often as I can get the chance.
