As one who relies on public transportation, the new location is a huge disappointment. It is literally in the middle of nowhere. At the old location it was a quick shuttle bus downtown or to the C Train on the number 20 bus. It took minutes and the stop was almost at the door. No so anymore. Even the bus stop is a trek. It is about 3/4 of a mile from the stop to the market.
The new location takes close to one hour from downtown and one and a half hours from the near North West. That is three hour return trip. One visit and that is all for me, regardless of the wonderful vendors who have worked hard to present their wares to Calgary and its visitors. Simply put, it is far far too inconvenient.
I used to see many seniors at the Currie Barracks location who had arrived by way of Calgary Transit. Few familiar and regular faces graced the new location. For a senior, it will now be an expedition rather than an easy jump on the bus.
