  • Let me start off by saying that 1. I am aware that I am an adult and responsible for my own actions, I do not expect a tour company to predict the weather and I fully understand that the Grand Canyon is an outdoor attraction with no guarantees... And that I've let this settle in my mind for a week now and then I realized that if I had read these reviews before hand.... I would have looked for a different company to book with. I booked a 16 hour bus tour of the south rim and the Hoover dam months in advance. They confirmed my cell phone number and my hotel room number and told us to be at the north entrance at 5:55 am. They called our room at 4:30 am to ensure we were awake. My boyfriend and I got up, packed our snacks and went to the hotel's Starbucks. (It was 5:35am, Starbucks had just opened. We ate sitting on the floor in the north entrance. There was an older couple also with us in the same tour. 3 other tour companies came in asking for their customers and told us that because it was raining we could wait inside and the tour company would come ask for us. (Again I fully understand they are a different company and don't speak for gray line).. Anyway.. Our bus pulls up around 6:10 (late) and they park off to the side. We waited a few minutes wondering if it was our bus because it was late and no one got out. The four of us started walking to the bus and it begins to pull away, we follow it thinking maybe it's just pulling up for another bus but nope! They left. I called the company and they told me that my boyfriend and I and the other couple were both down as no-shows and that they could not come back to get us.. Our call was transferred 4 times just making the bus further and further away. They suggested we take a cab to the bus terminal. Luckily I had a rental car so I drove all four of us (two of which I've never met before.. Who were great people might I add) to the terminal where no one apologized and we waited another 40 minutes on the bus before we left... Can't imagine why no one could drive the less than 10 minutes to pick us up. The weather was horrible.. It was cold and raining and I'll say it again.. I don't blame gray line for the weather. But as a company that does this tour 3-5 days a week according to our driver, for the money I paid for this tour they could have asked if we wanted to reschedule when they called us at 430 am... I would have been less annoyed had they offered that initially instead of when I called about being left and asked if we could just move it to tomorrow and they told me it would be $25 a person. It was not our fault we were left. This tour made 2 completely unnecessary stops .. One to McDonald's and the other to subway where you're given 20 minutes to try to get food or use the bathroom where 4 other busses are dropping off tons of people (obviously there's contracts here).. Leaving the first stop (McDonald's) I noticed the couple that was with us from the beginning wasn't on the bus. I told the driver (Milton) and he asked what they looked like and I told him they were an older couple.. He said "they white?" I said yes and he said "oh they'll fit in just fine when I leave them here" .. A less than funny joke when you've already been left once. When they got back to the bus they explained the line for the bathroom was outrageous and he made a big speech over the intercom about how he won't hesitate to leave people.. We're on his time.. We're all adults here. What feels like forever later we finally got to the national geographic center which is where your free lunch comes in... The options are limited .. I ended up eating Pizza Hut. Then you sit around waiting for everyone who did the iMax because there is nothing to do there besides eat, imax and gift shop. Our driver was again annoyed and threatening to leave people once the iMax let out late and they needed to use the restroom. Rude again. We finally make it to the canyon and it's snowing ... Which I can deal with.. But on the way to this stop Milton tells us that "his people" told him the weather is clear up there"... NOT. Not only is it snowing, it's so foggy that you can't see an inch of the canyon. For the 3rd time. I understand they do not control the weather. But instead of lying about the weather being clear... Give us a heads up that there's a possibility that there will be no visibility. Obviously it still would have been a let down.. But I was so excited and then got to the edge of the canyon and almost burst into tears when all we could see was endless white. Another threat was made that if we weren't back to the bus at exactly this time we would leave us and be back in 30 minutes. He left 5 mins before then and left 4 people.. I'm out of room to keep complaining. But they refused to bring us back to my car (had to get a cab) and no one had called my room or cellphone before making us a no show. Disappointed is an understatement.
