What am I missing here??
This place has been on my bookmarks for a long time and I finally got a chance to go last night and i left feeling nothing... No real wow at the experience.
Service was excellent, our gal was great... No complaints there.
Between my husband and my dishes and the two appetizers and 2 desserts, nothing really was AHmazing. I also didn't hear any comment of "wow" from our friends from their dishes.
Appetizer: Sea Scallop and the Ceviche. For a party of 4, you should definitely increase the portion, this was equivalent to 1.5bites per person of the ceviche and the scallops were 2.. for 4 people. come one... snobbery. Scallops were flavorful but ceviche was ok. Disappointing.
Entrees: Salmon dish and pork & polenta dish. My salmon was tasty but not memorable. My husband had the same comment about his pork & polenta dish: nothing to talk about.
Cocktails: Gin & Co, Bootleg Smitty. My husband did not like his Gin & co drink. I tried it myself and it was not tasty. My friend's bootleg smitty was delicious, though... I think really the only thing that stood out the entire night: one great cocktail.
Dessert: they only offer two (really neither sounded appealing to me but I wanted some kind of uplifting meal to end the disappointing apps and dinner). Carrot cake: ugh, no. The only thing I enjoyed on there were the fried carrots.. everything else was a blur. The sweet pot pie. No way.... I didn't find any flavor or anything about it that said 'dessert'. I've never ordered dessert anywhere and not taken several bites - it's dessert, how do you go wrong?
Writing all this I feel like I literally flushed way too much money down the drain. I know downtown dining is more expensive, and I'm ok with that, but to not be wowed or even impressed with your meal is borderline insulting. Like they're telling you you're paying for the privilege to eat here... no thanks.
