I've been watching "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" aka Triple D on the food network lately and watching this show makes me hungry all the time. The show visits many diners in the US and it makes me wonder why there are so few diners in Toronto. Or am I looking in the wrong areas? So a quick search on Yelp with the word "diner" showed Wimpy's Diner as the first result. So this is what prompted my visit to Wimpy's. The decor is snazzy but if you compare to the diners on the show Triple D it doesn't even come close.
Ordered up a Philly cheese with beef + Onion rings and a French Toast combo with sausage and bacon. About $10 for each dish. The food was good but nothing really stood out and wowed me. The best part of the meal was the beef sandwich. It was tasted really fresh but flavorwise it seem plain. The French toast was nothing special. Just a regular slice of Wonder bread with eggs.....could have made that myself at home. Well, I guess I will continue my search for the ultimate diner in Toronto. Next stop... Hazel's Diner
