| - I've been putting off lasik for years because 1. The longer you wait, the better the technology gets, right? And 2. I'm a HUGE wuss about eyes. So with my eyes having been allergic to contacts for the past 3 years, the few pairs I still had expiring, and my frustration with glasses in training for triathlons and martial arts, I finally decided it was time.
I got recommendations from friends and got evaluations at two different Lasik offices. After my evaluations I had a big question come up (lasik vs PRK for the activities I do) and called both offices asking if I could meet with the actual ophthalmologists to get their opinions. (When you go in for an eval, you typically meet with the optometrist, who doesn't actually perform the procedure.) The other office told me no, there was no way to meet the surgeon before the day of, but lasik plus told me Dr. Perry could see me that Friday. He answered my questions and made me feel comfortable, so his 10 minutes earned my trust and business.
I got two Valium before the procedure, and it was quick, smooth, and not bad at all. Today, three days after procedure, one of my eyes is still
hurting and the other isn't, so I emailed Dr. Wayment (the optometrist) and he told me to come in right away to check out my eyes. (They've just got a few dry spots, so he gave me a different type of tear drop to try.) But I thoroughly appreciated his quick response and that he didn't hesitate at all to see me and address my concerns. (And my eyes were 20/15 when I was in there today.)
So far I'm very happy!
