This place was on our bookmarks and we're trying to get them checked off before 2015 but when I keep adding more it doesn't help! Haha. We came on a Friday night and I was surprised to only see a few people eating here. Maybe I thought they would be busier because it's a Friday and there Fairly close to downtown but I think everyone was next door at Art of flavors. The warm bright colors make you feel welcome instantly. I knew I wanted an arepa and my guy had never heard of the please do went with a chicken plate. The pork on the pork butt arepa was succulent and juicy. Paired well with the cilantro garlic sauce. The plantains themselves were slightly mushy and soft. I guess I was expecting more of a crispy exterior. They still were buttery warm and comforting. I didn't mind at all. The chicken plate he orders came with 3 pieces of chicken thighs with 2 sides. He went with rice and beans. The chicken itself had a good seasoning in the outside and a crispy char from the open fire. It was a little dark but I like my meat cooked that way anyway. To some it might seemed burnt. Overall the food was pretty good and the hot sauce they gave was really good. Paired well with all the flavors. I would definitely come back and try some more arepas.
