 | - After our first 110-degree day of an inevitably lengthy summer, I am overdue for an escape. I haven't been to a beach or a cool mountain retreat in so long, my brain fails to conjure imagery of more habitable biomes. I sometimes curse the sun, and then remind myself to "think cool thoughts". Those thoughts will bring me to my time here, standing in awe of both simple and novel flavors.
I sampled the Madagascar Vanilla first, and was immediately pleased. You know how a smile is this universal symbol of happiness? So universal in fact, that people perform the gesture despite having never seen one? I believe a good vanilla ice cream is the culinary version of that. Everyone--literally everyone--can appreciate it, and like a cool breeze through your hair its goodness is entirely self-evident. Sweet Republic's take on this classic is accessible to anyone, anywhere, and any time. I could offer this to an uncontacted civilization in the Amazon, and they would immediately recognize that I am coming in peace.
The banana foster was even better.
I'll be back to have one of these confections in a cone. Or with toppings. Honestly, I would eat it on top of just about anything. It's simply that delicious.
