I am so glad that there are a few Asian markets around here like Lotus. I lived in Ottawa, Ontario for two years and they have a chain called T&T, which is an Asian superstore, as big as any super walmart you'll find here. These Asian markets are so incredibly cheap compared to most "normal" grocery stores. My boyfriend and I do all the shopping that we can at Lotus, and then fill in the gaps at Market District and it saves us so much money! Especially when it comes to herbs. We love to cook a variety of Asian cuisines, and buying things like cilantro, mint, and thai basil elsewhere can be very costly. And don't even get me started on rice. We buy the big 10 lb. bulk bags of Jasmine for not much more than a small bag would cost you elsewhere. I'm so glad that Pittsburgh has the diversity we crave!
