| - Suite 88 is my favourite chocolatier in the city. There, I've said it. Unfortunately, this doesn't count for very much because they are closing :((.
I haven't found any comparable places that get the flavour as perfect as the artisans here.
My favourite individual items are the chocolate domes with a ganache center. After every holiday, they usually discount the packaged chocolates by 50% meaning you can pick up one of these boxes of 20 for $20 instead of $40+. They're worth the $40+ though too. take a look at some of my pictures for the individual chocolates, you'll get an idea :).
These chocolates are also available online from their webstore, but I'm not sure if the discount applies there as well.
Now for what I'm really going to miss - my favourite things to do when visiting are to order the praline crepe cake with an intense hot chocolate.
The praline crepe cake is basically pieces of crunchy crepe that have been pralined and put into a milk chocolate ganache between two layers of chocolate cake, topped with more ganache and coated with more pieces of the pralined crepes. *gasp*
As for the intense hot chocolate, intense means it's made with cream instead of milk, for a richness that is beyond belief. I love the dark chocolate mint flavour, and last time I visited I had them add cinnamon for a really nice twist!
I'm told the shop will live on through the webstore, and this brings me some comfort, but I will have to wait with bated breath to find out if the boutique will ever return. (Or learn how to make hot chocolate myself, I guess ;P).
