| - One of my goals whenever I visit Phoenix is to eat all the things at all the places, Chino Bandito is my favorite place to eat in the Western Hemisphere since El Camino was vanquished in Louisville, Kentucky. This is the mountaintop of restaurants for me not just because I love the food but also because it's filled with happy and poignant memories.
Chino Bandito, as the other reviews will elucidate, is a place where Chinese and Mexican food are brought together in excellent fusion cuisine. When I lived in Phoenix I'd vary my order once a week to try new things, a man was saying when I was there last time that there are over eighty thousand combinations of food here. I would love to try all of them.
When I am limited to an annual visit I have the Jade Chicken, BBQ Pork, and fried rice. I also have the beans that are spicy and delicious. Vicki had the Jade Chicken and fried rice, she has lost weight and I am looking for it. The food has the delightful quality of filling you up at a reasonable price, tasting great, and being reasonably 'good' for you all things considered. The spicy is spicy enough to enjoy, doesn't overstay it's welcome, and doesn't visit again later.
I also love, love, love their snicker doodle which is a better cookie than the ones my great grandmother made for me - there is no internet in Heaven so I'm confident she won't hear about it. At least for a while.
And kids, the place isn't fancy - you seat yourself, you fill your own drink, and some nice young person brings you your food. It's super casual but I've learned that fancy digs aren't exactly indicators of quality food and service.
