| - Dinner on 1/19/17 with a party of four others.
It's a good room in the Palms Casino originally owned by the Maloof family and now owned by the Fertitta's of UFC fame.
There is a nice bar to the right of the door as you enter, spacious and well managed.
We were seated at 8:30 pm. The occasion was a chance for friends to get together, converse and have a good meal....it's a loud room, but most of us had eaten there before and knew what to expect as far as ambiance.
This is what I had to eat(it was a night of stuffing the belly)...."Garbage" chopped salad(romaine, salami, shrimp, cucumber, tomato, artichokes, crispy shallots, olives, maytag blue cheese, hearts of palm, dijon vinaigrette-$16.00), two large shrimp with cocktail sauce-$8.00 each, a 12 oz filet($61.00) served Oscar style(king crab, asparagus, bernaise-$29.00) , loaded baked potato($12.00), creamed spinach($12.00) and the tableside s'mores(banana, raspberry & milk chocolate marshmallows, white & dark chocolate ganache, graham crackers-$12.00)...right there without drinks we are at $158.00.
For that kind of money, it should be expected that average is not a word used in any context. But that is what the meal was....exceedingly average. I'm not talking about average like Fleming's, or Ruth's Chris....no, this food taste, and quality was more like the Butcher Shop or even...gasp!....Outback steakhouse...seriously.
The "Garbage" salad was tasty....but the greens had been washed and not drained, so it was watery, and I hate that. The two shrimp were very large and very tasty, no complaints there. The filet was good.....but it was just a good filet. For all the talk about P\prime, dry aged, blah-blah, it was a steak tasting very much like what I get at Costco for about $10.00. The crab on the Oscar was plentiful but salty as hell and very fishy tasting...not quality.....I could roll on, but you all get the idea. The "famous" steakhouses in Las Vegas are losing their luster and better up their game or get buried by up-n-comers or old classics lesser known like the Golden Steer, Circus Circus Steakhouse or Binion's, where the glitz is more toned down, and the value is much more visible.
Will get to it from there.....sorry for no photos, but couldn't really geek out with this group, as the eye-rolling would have been epic....
Ambiance/Cleanliness-it's a cool room, very clean......very dark, not quite flashlight needed-to read-the-menu dark, but dark enough that it is hard to visually tell the difference between medium rare and rare. The music is on the loudish side and the conversation is at a bold volume, so if you are looking for quiet romantic, it ain't here.....4 stars.
Service-EXCELLENT!- our server took great care of us, and I wish I knew his name, but my buddy took care of the bill collection services. We were afforded every opportunity to ask questions and food came out in an efficient and professional manner....5 stars.
Food....please read above....was very disappointed, and before anyone from N9NE chimes in that I should have said something....NO!!! For this group of friends it would have been out of line and they would have felt very uncomfortable. I won't go back....2 stars.
There you have it.
