| - This is the final update for my experience at Chronic. I am delighted to report that my recent exchanges with the shop's co-owner and the subsequent work that was done left me feeling elated with the final outcome.
After Ricky (co-owner with Tristen, head artist) and I spoke, we then collaborated on design ideas. First, Tristen sent me a photoshopped image of what his idea of a fix could be, and while it was a beautiful image of a flower, it A) completely covered up my Israeli tattoo, which was what I initially wanted enhanced; and B) held no meaningful connection to this flower. I didn't just want a pretty flower plunked down in place of the clouds.
Ricky and I exchanged a couple more emails and phone calls and I shared with him some design ideas that held deep meanings for me and worked with my existing tattoos. We settled on a hamsa design that would incorporate my Israeli tattoo.
I did go to another shop for a consultation and for their advice, but ultimately, when I saw the image that Tristen came up with, I made the decision to go back to Chronic and let them fix the job that their shop started.
After 3.5 hours of Tristen's skill, artistry and ingenuity, I have a tattoo that I absolutely love.
As I was leaving the shop, Ricky told me that a deal's a deal, and he still wanted to refund my original payment for the botched job. I told him no - to give it to Tristen as a sign of my thanks.
Relationship with the shop and tattoo repaired - and now the shop has better customer service policies in place, so this is truly a win-win.
Here is the progression from tatt-fail to tatt-fix:
