How are they still in business? I reached out to this practice 6 weeks ago--was given an appointment two weeks later. I arrived and (my fault)forgot my insurance id card, but since I had taken the time to get my insurance verified on the phone prior, I did not think it would be an issue----it was. They rescheduled me to another appointment two weeks later again. I brought my card. I filled out the new patient paperwork (ten pages). After waiting a while, the front office girl calls me up and asks if I was ever tested for ADHD? I said yes years ago. Well guess what? I can either track down those records or RETEST HERE FOR $125 cash....insurance won't cover. So I say, well, I will just see the doctor, maybe after speaking with me she won't even think that is my issue, I really want to discuss and take it from there. At that point they tell me Dr. Belota DOES NOT TALK TO PATIENTS. No - she just manages medications.....ummmm.....what? Why would anyone need to pay a doctor to manage medications? Walgreens and CVS does that for free. They alert you if there are side effects or combinations that are alarming, etc. Does she mean simply prescribing? Is it even ethical for a psychiatrist to prescribe without talking to the patient? Then the doctor herself came up to the window and clarified that YES that indeed is all she does. So I am an insured patient that has thusfar wasted 6 weeks trying to get help, only to discover that I can either pay for a test I do not need and get medication issued or find another practice. WOW. Office staff puts everyone on hold EVERY TIME......hold times range from 6 minutes to 32 minutes........why???
