| - I went here at 10am on a Saturday and it was PACKED.. so busy I actually felt anxious throughout my trip. There were so many new things to take a look at, but every second someone is pushing you out of the way, so you can't leisurely take everything in. There were so many people at the deli counter I was tempted to take a picture of the mayhem. You have to take a number, and no I'm not joking. People were swarming the cheese counter and pastry counter too.
I will definitely have to find a calmer time to return, but return I will. There are SO many more things I'd like to try here. Despite the madness I planted $100 at Starsky, most of which was on cheese. Be prepared to be overwhelmed by the cheese selection. I stuck with the small French cheese section and even that was too much to take in! The sign says you can ask for samples, but it's pretty much impossible because of the masses of people.
I picked up some other delicious treats which I have yet to indulge in -- like the famous rose donut, several unique flavours of Milka chocolate (like honey, blueberry, and pear), fresh buns, meringue cookies, cornichons, and a couple of types of Greek yogurt. Krema is my favourite and it was cheaper at Starsky than at Metro.
Definite highlight of the trip was the packaged mixed deli and mixed salami across from the deli counter. I have no idea what I purchased but I picked up a few packs at about $2 each and it beat having to wait in the long line, and there are all different types of meats available in the vaccuum packs. Plus, it was less overwhelming than having to look at the endless selection of deli meats.
Tip: They also have a small 'French' section where they have a few different kinds of Foie Gras mousses and pates.
