I brought my BMW in after an accident to the passenger side front bumper or nose piece. I had them fix it and when I went to pick it up I noticed multiple blemishes throughout the whole front bumper like the guy didn't do much of any prep work prior to painting.
I asked to show somebody and they sent Lou out who I assume is a manager I met him in the show room and asked him if he could come out front to take a look at things and I turned to walk towards the door and when I got to the door I turned around and he was still standing by the counter ?so I repeated myself could you come out and take a look at my concerns and his response was "I guess" really that's your response when somebody wants you to go look at one of their concerns "I guess"
So he came out and looked and said "well we didn't work on the driver side of your bumper we only worked on the passenger side"
I said I understand that but you pulled the whole nose piece off the car and painted it correct? and he said yes and I said OK well there's multiple very small blemishes throughout the bumper that could've been sanded so easily how would your guy just paint over this without doing any prep work? he said "if you wanted to have that stuff taken care of you should've asked?
I explain to them that it's not like it's a dent or even a scratch it's very small spots where stuff has flown up from the road and just put very small chips in the bumper I would assume that when you're sanding down the nose piece all that stuff would be prepped out so the piece that your painting looks correct when it's put back on the car.
This is a shop that does BMWs Mercedes all high-end cars that's why I brought my car there I can't imagine on a $80,000 Mercedes they would prep 1/2 and just paint over whatever was there on the other side.
I figured out fairly quickly that I was going to get nowhere with this guy so I chalked one up to a lesson learned I've never had this type of issue with the shop they've always done good work on the two jobs they had done for me previously.
How a manager can sit and look at a bumper that looks like somebody painted over darn near dirt that is still on the front of it is beyond me, common sense says your repainting the nose piece of a BMW you have worked on the left side of the bumper if you're going to repaint the whole thing kind of goes without saying that you sand it down and prepare it properly. That is my thought unfortunately not Lou's .
Well after leaving a review on the companies system that they send to you after a job I was contacted immediately they offered to redo the entire job and provide me a rental car while they did it. You can't ask for more than that it was really more of a problem with one individual there and could've handled it so easily so problems do arise it's how you handle them and they handled this better than anyone could ask for.
Thanks for making things right.
