  • I feel really terrible for the review that's about to happen here, however this was a not so awesome experience and for feedback's sake it needs to be done: Last night of restaurant week, I show up with 5 friends and 2 more on the way around 8:30. We're seated immediately, which was nice, however we're seated at a table with a dirty cloth (looked almost like blood on the cloth but I'm assuming it was wine). While the 5 of us are sitting in our chairs, they change the table cloth out from underneath us awkwardly. Our first waitress of the night comes over, we ask for restaurant week menus and waters. The menus came eventually (5-10 minutes), however it took 25 maybe 30 minutes at least to get waters. We order our first rounds of drinks, they arrive quickly enough. Nice little gruyère popovers arrive at the table - yummy. In this period of time we receive a new waiter, he takes drink orders for the rest of our table, and our two other friends arrive. This is where things start going downhill. Two remaining friends order wine, and we all place our food orders. Majority of the table orders Cavatelli - some of our dishes seemed undercooked while others (mine) were cold. Still no wine for our friends. Second round of food comes out a bit later, everyone at the table ordered the skirt steak. I ordered mine rare, which is next to impossible to mess up, and it was delicious. The rest of the table also received rare steaks in spite of whatever temperature they were ordered at. Still no wine for our friends. One of our friends had to send her steak back to be re-cooked, because it was not up to par. Another friend commented on how portions seemed inconsistent across the table and how they were plated differently (she got sauce, I didn't, etc.) Our waiter was also visibly upset by how poorly our service was going, which is understandable but sort of uncomfortable to witness. We had to request the wine several times, maybe 3-4, before they were served -- at least a half hour after they were ordered, maybe longer, and in the middle of our dinner service. Now, in fairness, the waiter comped a round of drinks, apologized profusely, and served a complementary kahlua shot, however as mentioned I think it's important for upper management here to understand the extent to which things were falling apart. I hope you guys get your shit together(!!), The House is walking distance from where I live, and I'd hate to see you not exist due to experiences like this one.
