| - Rosie's is a neighborhood bakery with a little eat-in restaurant that is great for a small breakfast meeting or a little solitude with a book or laptop to catch up on the email (the wifi is fast and reliable). Just six small booths and as many tables, I've never seen it crowded on a weekday morning. I have not sampled much of their bakery fare yet because, at the moment, I'm obsessed with their breakfast sandwiches. Served with either a croissant or a biscuit and choice of sausage, ham or bacon (with a healthy slab of scrambled egg slathered with cheese), these sandwiches are the shit! Not expensive and big enough to satisfy without need for any sides or baked goods.
I have tried a doughnut just for fun, and while good, it didn't blow me away so I'll reserve any further comment on their baked goods until I've had a chance to really try them out.
The final word on Rosies is their coffee. They serve Johnson Bros. Roasters coffee, which if you're a Madisonian, is serious cred. JBC (https://www.jbccoffeeroasters.com) coffee is my long-time favorite coffee and finding a little shop like this in my hometown is golden. Rosies will remain one of my quiet breakfast haunts for the foreseeable future with their unbeatable combo of quiet workspace, killer breakfast sandwiches, and the best coffee in the region.
