| - Had to wait over 90 minutes, despite being on their frequent rental program where your car is supposed to be waiting for you when you pick it up. My car wasn't ready and neither was my contract. But that doesn't tell the complete story of what happened here.
You evidently need a contract prepared and printed before you can check out your car, even though I previously entered all of the necessary information online as a frequent renter. They first told me their reservation system was down, then told me they were short staffed.
Then their printer didn't work. The guy at the kiosk who couldn't print the contract told me he couldn't do anything to help me until he got the printer fixed. I told him all he had to do was to use other unused terminal next to him to get contract printed. But I think that was too complicated for him. So rather than continue to wait, I took the initiative go to back to the front counter to get my contract printed.
When I went back to get the contract printed, I was told I then needed to have the car keys first before they could print out the contract. What? Didn't the other guy and a number of other people at Dollar just tell me I needed contract first before I could get the access to the car (i.e., the car keys)?
After I got this sorted out, the gate attendant was apparently flirting with one of the customers, causing a huge backup of customers trying to get out of the lot. But when it was finally my turn, the attendant didn't let me take the car out of the lot because she said my paperwork wasn't in order.
Apparently, my paperwork indicated that I already left the lot. So she indicated that, because of this, I couldn't leave the lot until she checked this out. I assured her, if I had left the lot, I wouldn't be coming back to go through all of this. But the logic of my argument didn't impress her. So I had to wait some more as she sorted out my paperwork with the manager, who fortunately for me, was able to straighten this less-than-stellar employee out.
After all of this, I finally able to leave this place after an hour and a half. If this is how this company treats its supposedly best customers, I'd really hate to see how it treats its worst.
