| - I have never had so much difficulty with a "business" in my life! I chose this company because of their great reviews online. In my personal experience with this company, these reviews (yellowpages.com) couldn't be further from the truth- maybe they're not form actual customers. They finally rented our property out after sitting vacant for 2 months. While I'm not blaming them for the rental market, when I originally spoke to them on the phone, they said they rarely have properties go past 1 month of being vacant. So, they finally rented it out beginning June 29th, charged $73 for June's rent, but were will going to charge $75 for the monthly maintenance fee. Pretty terrible in my opinion! As for the first full month's rent, they didn't even transmit the income to my account. I had to call and remind them to do this. If I wouldn't have reminded to give me my money, who knows when it would have been sent. When I heard from the business owner that he would waive the first monthly maintenance fee, I was feeling a little better. Until I received my statement and he was only willing to waive the June fee, but not July. I got into a shouting match with the owner on the phone about how this is unfair that I am expected to be charged a full months fee for 2 days in June (not even enough to cover the 2 day rental income in June), and all of July, the owner kept telling me that that's policy and I should just deal with it. Also, that I should be thankful they rented it out. Additionally, I was charged fees ($75) for a new garage door remote before they could ask me how to even get the working remote. The previous tenants forgot to leave it at the house. They could have just brought it over same day, but GWM decided it is easier to charge me for a new one instead of communicating with the property owner. They just go ahead and charge the fee without letting the property owners know. They figure it's ok to just deduct it from the monthly statement and you will find out later. That's bad communication and jumping the gun without asking the owner about it first! In my opinion this is a company that does bad business and they do not deserve to get anymore customers. Please look elsewhere for a property management company- this one is terrible.
*2014 update- after using them for 1 year we finally stopped using them once the tenants "left" they were actually evicted due to the fact that they stopped paying rent. Golden West left us in the dark on this until 3 days after they were evicted. I questioned why we didn't receive our rent for the month (18 days late) and they said very casually, oh yeah they were evicted a few days ago...). One of their employees went to the house to check it out (we don't live near the home) and he said it didn't look too bad, just a little paint was all it needed. Well, about $10,000 later in repairs, it wasn't minor damage! The home was trashed in 1 years time. They do not find quality tenants & don't check on the property-EVER! The leases are very 1 sided and in favor of the tenant. It was one of the worst decisions of my life to use this company. Also, I posted a terrible review in yellowpages.com and they paid to have it removed! I'm glad yelp doesn't allow that.
