| - For quite a few years I went to Desert Valley Family when they were off of Dobson, I believe. I can't quite remember right now because it's so long ago.
When Dr. Paul Laven first began here, I went to him and liked him. He was very personable. Maybe he was a lot younger than and less knowledgeable and though he was super nice, I found his methods not good nor effective.
I remember having a cough for a long time, weeks and went to him. He always prescribed to me some medication. Over the course of 9 months, I had a whole counter full of meds that didn't work and lots of side effects. I was actually getting sicker and my cough no better.
My mom was really worried about me and had me see my grandfather, who was a Chinese herbal doctor in California. My grandfather asked me maybe a few minutes of questions, looked at my tongue, eyes, took my pulse. He wrote something in Chinese and I went to get it filled at a Chinese herbal place. I made this tea daily and drank it for 10 days. The tea tasted so gross and disgusting, but I did it.
Doing what my grandfather said, my cough went away. But 9 months of going to see Dr. Laven to help me get rid of the cough, nothing. It got worse and I began having other really bad side effects. Their office kept collecting my co-pays and I kept paying for all the different prescription medications to no avail.
I was also experiencing problems with my menstrual cycle really badly. Again, Dr. Laven prescribed to me more pills that made me sick. It seemed like Dr. Laven's methods were to always give me a prescription, not figure out truly what was the matter.
I felt like a pharmaceutical rat. The more meds they gave me, the worse my health got. Maybe Dr. Laven was being supported by the big drug companies. I don't know. But, after my grandfather's remedy worked, I stopped going to Dr. Laven because I figured I didn't want to have a doctor who always used medications as a solution.
Eventually, through chiropractic care and energy psychology (EFT), and trigger point therapy, I was able to actually have a pain free and normal menstrual cycle, but with Dr. Laven, it got much worse.
And, I also hated the long wait times when I would go to the office, which seemed like quite frequently. So, this review is for 20 yrs ago. I don't know if he's changed, but I sure hope so for the better.
