  • Love, love, love Sprouts, I think they have great prices on good quality items. I'm a loyal customer and find the staff very friendly and helpful, especially Judy the cashier and Mike in produce. The only reason for 4 stars is over the last month or so, they are doing a very poor job of properly culling and removing expired dairy products. This happened on 3 occasions. 1st time, December 9, I bought 2 gallons of organic milk without checking the expiration date (I know, you could say shame on me for not checking the dates, but I was in a hurry as my husband, son and dog were waiting in the car for me). At home, putting the milk away, I noticed both gallons had an expiration date of December 9. Next morning, I promptly returned them to the store. 2nd time was on my return trip on December 10. I was browsing organic sour cream. I looked at no fewer than 6 cartons of Sprouts organic sour cream, ALL had expired dates. It was December 10 and all of the cartons expired December 5 or 6!! So, I had to buy the more expensive Shamrock Farms organic sour cream as that had an expiration date in January. I mentioned this to the cashier (NOT Judy), she wasn't overly concerned. 3rd time was January 6. I bought 3 cartons of Stonyfield Organic cherry yogurt. Yep, you guessed it, ALL 3 had dates of January 2. 4 DAYS PAST THE EXPIRATION DATE, THE PRODUCT WAS STILL BEING SOLD!!! I ate one of the cartons before I realized the date issue, and obviously, I'm OK, but I expect better from Sprouts. I will be returning the remaining 2 cartons for a refund. If the store is reducing the price on soon-to-expire products, I'm fine with that. I'm also OK with consuming products that are a couple days past expiration date, if they've been in my refrigerator for a while. But, when I'm buying things in the store, I expect them to have fresh items that haven't already expired so that I can use them for another week or so once I get home. Bottom line, great store, mostly friendly staff, good variety of organic and non-GMO products, but if you're buying dairy, CHECK THE DATES!
