| - I just ate at The Barrymore in celebration of my friend's birthday. I picked this place based on the great reviews, and I have to say I was a bit skeptical as our cab driver pulled up to the Royal Resort Hotel (a hotel off the strip I had never heard of). With that said, the meal did not disappoint. The restaurant itself has a very cool ambiance and decorated quite classically--I'd venture to say that it doesn't really fit with that particular hotel.
We started off with the Diver Scallops and the Lobster Mac & Cheese. I didn't love the scallops, but not because they weren't tasty--I'm just not a big fan to begin with. I've had Lobster Mac many times before and it's usually delicious, how could those two things combined not be? This time was no different, I would highly recommend trying it, but make sure to split it so that you don't ruin your meal-- it's heavy.
Lastly, for entrees my friend and I split the Black Bass and the Short Rib per the recommendation of our server. The Black Bass was wonderful and a great alternative for someone who doesn't wish to order steak. The Short Rib was also very tasty, it easily pulled apart as it should, but I would have liked for it to be a little more juicy. With that said, the flavor was great and both entrées were very enjoyable.
The Barrymore is a great place to get a nice dinner that won't cost you an arm and a leg. Similar dinners directly on the strip could have easily cost twice as much. I'd highly recommend giving it a try if you're looking for upscale, quality food, and good service without having to blow all of your winnings in one place.
