| - I tried to sign paperwork to secure an apartment before move- in on Jan.7, 2015. Somehow with more than 5 leasing agents in the office, we moved in after the sun went down. The parking lot is filthy. Nothing could touch the asphalt without becoming permanently stained. ( You will track in the grime from the parking lot on your light beige carpet.)
The garden tub leaned toward the drain as it had been installed without proper support underneath. It began to crack almost immediately. They sent a guy (Tubbie) to repair it. I checked with the office to see if the fumes were going to be okay to live there when it was done- no problem dust and fumes galore- it was horrible- and probably an OSHA violation. After the work was finished, the tub had rough grainy texture which made taking a bath impossible. It was stained and we were probably charged for the new tub when we moved. The management charged me a large fee to clean the apt when we moved. What I don't know is what was checked in the walk-through when we moved. Conveniently, nobody was able to inspect when we had the apt. and were there out last week. These people would not work with our work schedules at all. So many people employed, yet told me " it was a holiday weekend and they were busy."
You have to give a 60 day move out and I am sure they have the most paperwork I have ever seen for an apartment complex. Paperwork keeps changing each time to ask another office worker. I had secured a new apt. and asked them to sign the form to verify my payments and paid-up arrangement, and the manager took at least a few weeks to complete the one page paper. Each time I was told different dates it would be ready. I was told I would be called when it was ready so that I could pick it up; then she faxed it without telling me. This was less than professional.
There are two sides here, an A and a B side. Don't rent from the B side. This is the area that never is given the same yard maintenance as the A side. The manager said she lived on the A side. The B side also had water leaks everywhere. There was a leak that spanned a few feet between building 21 and its adjacent building. I really believe the water leaks are an environmental waste of water. Many of the leaks are from the sprinkler system that pours water during the night toward the building itself.
The entire time I lived in this apartment, I kept a really bad cough. I have not had it since I moved. I would suspect there is probably mold somewhere. BEWARE!
Our rent was raised from $869 to $944 at one time. When it went up, the guy that prepared the paperwork did not say anything about the increase. Yes, I should have read the fine print. That is my advice to you if you want to live there. I signed a 7 month lease after the first year lease while looking for another apartment. They sent me a letter telling me that " if I decided to stay, they would only raise my rent slightly," with no amount listed. Did they really think I would?
One of the most annoying things they do is send the security to your door at 11 pm to deliver nasty letters about your renter's insurance being void(not- but it required me calling my State Farm agent to get them another letter for no reason.) I also got a letter telling me that I would be charged for cig butts on ground when I don't even smoke, nor my guests! My dog announced their arrival each time, and woke me up. I have to get up every morning by 5:30 as I worked at CCSD.
Don't think about renting here. It will be a nightmare.
