| - I was pretty disappointed in my experience. Service was terrible, food was not great and I'm confused as to whether this place is supposed to be Korean or Japanese. Not as good as Goyemon.
First off, me and my friend sit down and instantly a waitress comes over and asks what we are drinking. We had not had a chance to look at the drink menu, so we reply "water." She whisks the drink menu away, so even if I had wanted to order a different drink later we wouldn't have been able to.
I didn't order AYCE because I am trying to not be a fatass. I ordered miso soup, three types of nigiri (tamago, salmon and ikura.) I also ordered a spicy tuna roll. I gotta give it to them, they give you A LOT of sushi for the price. Usually, you'll get two pieces of nigiri per order. Here, I got three (except for the ikura.) They are cheaply priced (don't know anywhere else that you can get ikura for $3.50 per order.) I was glad I did not order AYCE because of the amount I received--I would not have been able to eat more than that. There was a lot of rice, and the spicy tuna roll came with like 9 pieces. Quality of the fish was meh. My bill came out to around $20. AYCE is $25--but I would have regretted eating so much. Check took FOREVER to come and we weren't able to flag down our original waitress.
When you come in, they greet you in Korean. However, I thought this place was supposed to be Japanese based on the name. Sushi Kaya: Identity Crisis?
This place was PACKED on a random Thursday evening (many people waiting outside) so plan accordingly!
