I shopped at their now closed (as of June 2014) 1640 AVENUE RD LOCATION.

CUSTOMER
I bought a pair of boots here a few years ago. They gradually reduce prices of some clothing items over a 60-day period, so you can watch for deals. But don't wait too long because they disappear after 60 days.
It is not the fanciest consignment store, but they had more variety of sizes/prices than other consignment stores in the city.
CONSIGNING
I'd say they are more customer friendly than friendly to people who are trying to sell/consign items there.
I've overheard staff be a bit pushy. However, 45% of sale take-home for those selling items is just okay. I know another consignment on Yonge St that offers only 40% and yet another on Yonge St that offers a whopping 60% of the sale! But those places only take extremely high end designer clothing that is new or barely worn.
They offer insurance you can buy if your consigned item goes missing. Say, wuh?!!! They better have good ol' business insurance and better take responsibility if something gets stolen. That's why they get to collect the other 55%. That suggests to me that they might not be reputable and could easily claim something was stolen just so they can keep the merchandise for later sale. Sketchy.
Additionally, they are not very flexible with you if you want to collect your item if it does not sell. They have a strict policy of you needing to retrieve it by the end of the 60 days or it will be donated to charity. Ridiculous in my opinion. Other places at least give you a 1 week+ grace period (What if I'm sick in the former home of SARS? Sure, I'll gladly bring you my germs then!). Someone ought to remind them to not bite the hand that feeds them.
