I first found out about Mylk and its homemade almond mylk/milk via blogTO so finally made the trek to try it out (it's only 6months old).
Everything about this place is lovely! The white/light gray/turquoise simple decor and large front windows make this place really bright. The barista was really friendly and cheery - everything about this place is welcoming.
I had an iced almond milk latte which came to $4.60 ($3.75+0.60 almond milk+0.25 for making it iced...not too sure why there's an extra charge for ice but whatever, no big deal). The latte was delicious. The espresso from Social is strong (2 shots are the standard for the drinks) and isn't ovewhelmed by the almond milk. I've recently developed a thing for iced almond lattes but only had it with the store brand (either the So Nice or So Good or...probably the Almond Breeze brand - I forget which) but found that it gets too sweet towards the end. However, not with Mylk's almond milk which from my perspective a labour of love to make: the almonds have to be soaked for about 9 to 12 hours, blended, strained, blended again with dates (to sweeten it), strained, etc.
There's plenty of seats, two hot pink Muskoka chairs out in the front (how fun!) and free wifi.
One thing I have to point out is the washroom. It's located on the main level unlike many Toronto establishments and super, super clean. If you're not a complete germaphobe - it's sit down worthy. Really. Just sayin'.
