| - Very very strange, almost unnatural, table service at McDonalds!?... But as strange as it was, Esther, the young lady who served us, was very very nice, could not do enough for us and wouldn't accept a tip! Esther's suggestion was to donate the tip to Ronald McDonald charities so we did.
So you walk into the restaurant (I don't usually refer to or think of McDonalds as a restaurant, cause it's always just been McDonalds, good branding I guess, but I digress) and place your order on an LCD TV touchscreen terminal, this is new to me and only slightly confusing. For the CYT (Create Your Taste, that's what their new table service burger is called) you first select your bun, two choices, but as it turns out there's a third choice, you can have your CYT in a lettuce wrap. I guess it's explained somewhere on the huge screen, but us humans usually just look at the pretty pictures. I wanted the sour dough Kaiser looking bun and lettuce on the CYT so I selected the bun and then the lettuce, when it arrived to the table the bun was missing and it was wrapped in lettuce. The first screen of the order is all about the outside of the CYT and the last thing you select, lettuce in my case, is how it gets wrapped. Esther was very nice and quickly corrected this stupid user error.
The burger was pretty good for McDonalds, the bun and toppings were fresh and the burger itself had a good taste. With the price of this burger combo reaching $10 McDonalds in now in competition with all the other gourmet burger joints in the city. I think McDonalds can compete, but I'm not sure they are the best.
What's a review about McDonalds without a mention of their fries, they still the best, all the time every time, ever since I was a kid, and that's a long time ago. Always crispy on the outside and just a bit too salty, just the way I like them.
