  • I typically hate hospitals and have had some very bad experiences in many of them, in different states but especially at UPMC facilities, and have even had some unpleasant experiences at local clinics and institutes but I won't name names here. I went to AGH because I needed to change dentists and their dentistry program is absolutely phenomenal. I have been treated kindly by people there at every level, from the front office staff to Rose the dental hygienist to Dr. Callen to the other numerous specialists who came to counsel with me for my various dental needs over the course of my treatments. Plus, they have been able to resolve dental issues I've lived with for years that other professionals have shied away from addressing. So when my doctor referred me for an MRI, I chose AGH because I am familiar with the building and my experiences thus far had been pleasant. Again, from the scheduling department in Radiology, to the front office staff signing me in for care, to the cleaning personnel (my appointments are always very early morning due to work), to the MRI technicians and doctors coming to my assistance, everyone was courteous, respectful, empathetic to the stress of needing an MRI and having to be up so early, and incredibly helpful. The technician gave me, without my asking, a tour of the machine and explained clearly what to expect, and I felt completely comfortable and at ease knowing I was in good hands despite being in a narrow tube (I never felt "stuck"). I needed to cancel my first appointment after I checked in, and easily called to reschedule for the very next morning. When I arrived, the same folks were working and greeted me by name. I thought I had left something in the waiting room and without even asking for assistance, people volunteered to help me find my item and track it down in security (I actually left it at work, but it was such a kind gesture). I did have to wait a bit for my procedure even though I was supposed to be the first person in, but unlike with UPMC there was at least a clear reason for the delay and everyone was so kind about it.
