  • This is not a post on the shop itself or on the art, but on the business organization of one of their artists, Amy Pruss. I like tattoos and plan on getting many more. I moved to town a few months ago and have been looking for a local artist. I'm not sorry that this will not be Ms. Pruss. I was incredibly excited to get my new tattoo, I made an appointment for a chat with Amy after seeing her work on someone. We talked at the shop, I put down a deposit for the time, and made an appointment in her next available opening - 2 months later. We communicated through text (as that is her preferred method of communication) and is was frustrating that there was always a several day delay in her responding - unless we were having a full-on texting conversation. But I ignored it since she had my deposit and I wanted my tattoo. As the appointment got closer and I was getting excited about it, something came up at work for that day and I texted Amy to try to figure something out. I would up deciding on a different, smaller tattoo to do in the same appointment instead of the big piece I had been planning due to my time issue and budget. Two days later she responded. We texted back and forth for a while (I had to repeat several texts throughout the conversation as it was clear from her answers that she hadn't read my previous responses). She said to do any sort of decent work we would need more time for the session - at first I could not change my work schedule - so the texts stopped for a time as I tried to figure out what to do. About half an hour later, I had been on the phone with work and was able to reschedule my conflict with the appointment. So texted that we the time needed for the smaller piece. She responded by saying she had already given my time slot to someone else and if I wanted to reschedule, her next free appointment was in another 2 months. I pointed out that I had paid for that time slot and had never said I was fully giving it up - she said that it was her right when I first said I had a conflict to not lose money or time, pointing out that deposits are non-refundable. I understand that you are running your part of a business - but you cannot make someone wait that long and disregard them so easily. It is flaky and disrespectful. I have lost any and all respect for how she operates, regardless of skill. Amy is not worth the wait nor the stress for this disjointed and already long (now longer) wait for a tattoo. If I have lost my deposit, so be it. I do not want to look at a tattoo for the rest of my life and remember this stressful, uncomfortable situation.
