| - Maybe deserving of 3 1/2 stars, but until Yelp offer half star options, will have to round down...
4 stars was within reach too, since the buffets were actually comp'd by the casino, not having to pay always makes food taste better!
this was my first visit after their remodel, can't really tell a lot has been done other than seats are different and I think maybe the tile on floors.
round 1, on waitress recommendation, went to get a few slices of the tomahawk ribeye, was done a beautiful medium rare, nice char. got a slice of lamb too, and for good measure another piece of lamb from the Mediterranean section (was labeled incorrectly as duck confit, but easy to see it wasn't). funny the lamb from the Mediterranean section looked overdone, but was actually a lot better than the one sliced from the meat section? oh well, still good
round 2, had to get another couple slices of ribeye, added some maple pork belly/bacon, couple pieces of venison blueberry sausage and also the fennel sausage. the ribeye was a bit fatty this round, should have waited for him to slice into the new piece. maple pork belly was just so-so, and I should have passed on the sausages....overly dry
took a little break from going into a meat coma, thought I would break it up with a bowl of new England style clam chowder....this was excellent, nice, thick, rich chowder....YUM
on to round 3, grabbed a couple stone crab claws, a couple pieces of salmon and eel sushi, and a piece of sea bass. this round was a whiff too, the crab claws weren't too tasty, sushi was decent, and the sea bass probably saw its peak about an hour ago....
round 4, jumped to some of the vegetarian spring rolls they just brought out, and had to grab a bowl of the parmesan pork rinds! tried a few of the "dim sum" items too. This round too was another whiff, the spring rolls lacked a lot of flavor, and I probably should leave dim sum choices to spring mountain road!......I did like the pork rinds though, can't go wrong with lowbrow munchies right?
decided that was enough, on to dessert. not a huge selection here, so I just settle for a scoop of raspberry sorbet and one of mango/vanilla. These were a nice, light, refreshing way to cleanse the palate after the meal.
All in all, I think the buffet is only around 40 bucks for dinner, so compared to others, it was a good value for the money....although we were comp'd, so even better!
Service was good, wait staff pretty attentative, but I think the newer Wicked Spoon and Bachanaal buffets have stolen some of the limelight. (FYI, think Bachanaal overrated)
The standards are pretty much what you can expect at the Wynn, not like the cattle feed at some buffets, so it was a nice dinner
