I hate going to Walmart, especially when I'm feeling under the weather, but I love the fact that it's accessible and has everything I need under one roof when I'm looking for more than just groceries.
My first stop was toiletries. 3 tubs of body wash should suffice for awhile. I passed two sales associates and they never made eye contact or said a word. Maybe they realized I was sick and were steering clear? I moved on to face scrub.
A girl stocked the shelves next to me and never said a word. Hmm... Usually I get a smile, nod or something. Maybe I look sullen? I began to get a complex. I'd better smile.
Must buy soup. I hustled across the store into the grocery section. Ha! Now here were three employees having fun. They were yelling back and forth down the aisle at each other. I began to laugh when I realized that none of these people wanted to be here either. Soon a staunch little man in manager attire swiftly made his way to the three. And then there was silence.
I began to wonder if there had been some kind of employee meeting that went awry. "We'll have no smiling here!" After I finished picking up my $200 worth of findings I made my way to the register. "I'm sorry m'am. You have too many items to use the self checkout. You'll have to go wait in line." Of course.
